Absolute Necessity

It is somewhat irresponsible given the wide array of products available for content management to do a web site without using this software. We need to be able to push the generation and management of content out to all staff, and they shouldn't have to know very much HTML or have advanced technical skills in order to do this.

Hilary Marsh has a company that specializes in selecting and implementing content management. The site contains a number of resources that may be of interest.

Interestingly, Hilary's website doesn't seem to get updated very often and content with dates on it (looking quickly) seem to be from 2004 and 2005. Case of the cobbler's children having no shoes, or did I just not look hard enough?

Recently HSPH introduced a new content management system (homegrown, I believe). It does many things well, but currently doesn't do some of the things we would like it to do. While the IT group would like to help us with our specific needs, they are pulled in a million directions. So we may be looking for someone to help us coordinate our specific needs into the existing content management system. Any thoughts about companies that could be helpful with something like that?

WordPress might be a good option. My colleague, who works in web design in my office, introduced us to it, and it seems easy to use. And, extra bonus, it's free. We have begun using it to create an online version of a print magazine. If you check out http://wordpress.com/ it will look to be all about blogging, but the tool offers a lot more than that. Would love to see a link to your magazine.

Because so many features are being included in the HSPH content management system, what I'm really looking for is a company that can design some custom features for us that will then enable us to use the existing HSPH content management system and benefit from it. I don't really want to just pick something different to use (but I will if I have to).
