I am associate director for science communications in Alumni Affairs and Development at Harvard, a job I started in January, 2007. For six years before that, I was the director of university communications at Drury University. My previous lives include writing, producing and reporting TV news, and a career as a scientist that began when I was in high school, and ended when I realized that I loved running experiments but hated the idea of writing grants. I am also a geek watcher: I don't do a lot of what geeks do, but I try to keep an eye out for what's new, and think about how it might be used.
